CIS Setup

FieldHive includes support for the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) for businesses that work under CIS rules.

CIS settings can be configured within Business Settings and then applied to the appropriate customers when required.

Enabling CIS

Before CIS can be used, it must first be enabled within Business Settings.

To enable CIS:

Settings → Business Information

Enable:

Do you work under CIS?

Once enabled, additional CIS options become available.

Default CIS Deduction Type

When CIS is enabled, you can select a default CIS deduction type for your business.

Available options include:

  • Gross

  • 20% Standard

  • 30% Higher

This setting determines the default CIS deduction type used within your account.

Applying CIS to Customers

Enabling CIS for your business does not automatically apply CIS to every customer.

CIS should only be used for customers where CIS deductions are required.

Customer records allow you to identify which customers should use CIS, helping ensure deductions are only applied where appropriate.

Why Customer CIS Settings Matter

Many businesses work with a mixture of CIS and non-CIS customers.

By applying CIS at the customer level, FieldHive helps ensure the correct treatment is used for each customer and invoice.

Using CIS on Invoices

When a customer has been configured to use CIS, invoices can reflect the appropriate CIS deduction settings.

This helps keep invoice calculations consistent and reduces the need for manual adjustments.

Keeping CIS Information Accurate

If your CIS status or deduction requirements change, your Business Settings and customer records should be reviewed and updated accordingly.

Keeping CIS information accurate helps ensure future invoices continue to reflect the correct CIS treatment.

Important

FieldHive provides tools to help manage CIS deductions and records, but you remain responsible for ensuring your business complies with all applicable tax and reporting requirements.
